Bayesian Wavelength Selection in Multicomponent Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Multicomponent analysis attempts to simultaneously predict the ingredients of a mixture. If near-infrared spectroscopy provides the predictor variables, then modern scanning instruments may offer absorbances at a very large number of wavelengths. Although it is perfectly possible to use whole spectrum methods (e.g. PLS, ridge and principal component regression), for a number of reasons it is often desirable to select a small number of wavelengths from which to construct the prediction equation relating absorbances to composition. This paper considers wavelength selection with a view to using the chosen wavelengths to simultaneously predict the compositional ingredients and is therefore an example of multivariate variable selection. It adopts a binary exclusion/inclusion latent variable formulation of selection and uses a Bayesian approach. Problems of search of the vast number of possible selected models are overcome by a Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling technique. 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Wavelength interval selection in multicomponent spectral analysis by moving window partial least-squares regression with applications to mid-infrared and near-infrared spectroscopic data.
A new wavelength interval selection procedure, moving window partial least-squares regression (MWPLSR), is proposed for multicomponent spectral analysis. This procedure builds a series of PLS models in a window that moves over the whole spectral region and then locates useful spectral intervals in terms of the least complexity of PLS models reaching a desired error level. Based on a proposed th...
متن کاملWavelength region selection and spectrophotometric simultaneous determination of naphthol isomers based on net analyte signal
Naphthol isomers were simultaneously and spectrophotometrically determined in wastewater, using a model based on net analyte signal (NAS). The calibration method used is a variation of the original hybrid linear analysis method as proposed by Goicoechea and Olivieri (HLA/GO). Owing to spectral interferences, the simultaneous determination of mixtures of naphthol isomers, using a spectrophotomet...
متن کاملActive wavelength selection for mixture analysis with tunable infrared detectors
This article presents an active wavelength selection algorithm for multicomponent analysis with tunable infrared sensors. Traditional techniques for wavelength selection operate off-line; as a result, the resulting feature subset is fixed and only optimal for the specific mixtures and noise levels in the training set. To address this limitation, the proposed algorithm interleaves the wavelength...
متن کاملLyophilized bovine hemoglobin as a possible reference material for the determination of hemoglobin derivatives in human blood.
We investigated the suitability of a lyophilized bovine hemoglobin (LBH) preparation containing various fractions of oxyhemoglobin (O2Hb), carboxyhemoglobin (COHb), and methemoglobin (MetHb) for quality assessment in multicomponent analysis (MCA) of hemoglobin derivatives. It was demonstrated that a stable preparation of these components after reconstitution yields a hemoglobin solution that is...

Genomic selection combines statistical methods with genomic data to predict genetic values for complex traits. The accuracy of prediction of genetic values in selected population has a great effect on the success of this selection method. Accuracy of genomic prediction is highly dependent on the statistical model used to estimate marker effects in reference population. Various factors such a...
